COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps people understand and change their thought patterns and behaviors. The idea is that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected, and changing negative or unhelpful thought patterns can lead to changes in how we feel and act.

In CBT, we will work to identify and challenge negative or distorted thinking, develop healthier thinking habits, and learn practical skills to manage problems. It’s often used to treat things like anxiety, depression, and stress, and it usually involves setting goals, practicing new skills, and tracking progress over time.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy used to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. EMDR involves  guided bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements, though other forms of stimulation like tapping or auditory tones can also be used.
The goal of EMDR is to help reprocess these traumatic memories so they become less distressing and are integrated into the person’s broader life experience. The therapy focuses on reducing the emotional charge associated with the memories and helping the person develop healthier ways to cope with their past experiences.
